Gaudiy Sans

An open-source font characterized by linear strokes reminiscent of sci-fi and the near future

At the beginning of the 20th century, Morris Fuller Benton developed a typeface called “Franklin Gothic”. That was revived by Pablo Impallari in 2016 and offered as open source as “Libre Franklin”. In 2018, U.S. Web Design System, the U.S. government developed “Public Sans” based on Libre Franklin. And in 2023, we will release “Gaudiy Sans” as a new branch of Libre Franklin.

Styles

通常のスタイルに加え、「Pixel」と「Err」という2つの特別なスタイルがあります。これらを組み合わせて使用することで、ユニークなタイポグラフィー表現を展開できます。

In addition to the normal style, this font has two special styles, Pixel and Err. These can be used in combination to achieve unique typographic expressions.

Stylistic Set

「Pixel」はOpenType機能のStylistic Setとして収録されています。通常スタイルのBoldを選択した上で、Stylistic Setの設定で1つ目のセット (ss01) 「Pixel」を選択すると表示されます。

Pixel is included in this font as a Stylistic Set in the OpenType feature. It appears when you select the normal style Bold and then select the first set (ss01) “Pixel” in the Stylistic Set setting.

Mixed Typesetting with Japanese

このフォントは、オープンソースで提供されているNoto Sans CJK JPのグリフの一部を収録しています。Libre Franklinをベースに新たにデザインされたアルファベットなどのグリフは、Noto Sans CJK JPの日本語と調和するようサイズや位置、ウェイトが調整されています。

This font contains some glyphs from the open-source font Noto Sans CJK JP. Newly designed glyphs based on Libre Franklin are adjusted in size, position, and weight to harmonize with the Japanese glyphs in Noto Sans CJK JP.
